My obsession with Christian mythological symbols since childhood actually made me very morbid, and this little picture was the icon I used in a blog I kept for a couple years called "The Masturbat". The idea of the Masturbat was that he was a "morbid masturbator," that he had elevated himself above the so-called "mundane masturbators" because instead of jerking off to regular porn he only whacked his cock to dead people and tragedy. This was justified by his mystical belief that by jerking off and splattering his semen on the dead or when thinking of tragic events he could somehow positively affect the hidden reality underneath our perceptions by covering the dead with LIFE, his semen.
This "hidden reality underneath" was actually talked about by St. Augustine and I reference that and talk about it a bit in the context of the metaphor of "morbid masturbation" in my entry, Resurrection of the Cock Zombie
Yes, Christianity is indeed a very morbid religion. The philosopher, Nietzsche, recognized this and talked about it often. It's mythology and rituals involve the worship of a dead, scantily clothed God dripping blood everywhere on a cross which is actually symbolic of human intercourse, the intersection of penis and vagina. The primary sacrament, Communion or Eucharist, involves a metaphorical ritual of cannibalism and blood-drinking. Body parts of human saints all throughout Church history have been displayed and worshipped. Pictures of female saints holding their severed breasts on platters are easily found in church folklore and people wonder why priests sometimes become mentally unbalanced and commit deviant sexual deeds. At least some of the negative influence might be attributed to the symbology and morose ideas that they are constantly surrounded by.
Part of the purpose of this site is the discussion and recognition of these negative influences Christian and other religions' symbology can have on the human mind and my endeavor through art therapy to face it, get over it and recover from it by replacing these same metaphysical ideas with the more positive symbology found through my vision of werewolves and Mexican food.
