"January Blood On Broken Branches"

To some, religion and religious experience may be a great joy. Reading the Bible and going to church every Sunday may fill a void that is sometimes missing in all of us. To many the Holy Spirit is something that fills them with happiness and practicing their religion gives them great peace of mind and comfort and brings them a sense of community and companionship with their fellow worshippers. On the other hand, though, there is a dark side to religious obsession which can leave one debilitated with images of delusion, paranoia, schizophrenic tendencies and loneliness. Like I have said before, Christianity, in its symbolism and teachings can often be very morbid and there have been many Christian thinkers who believe that when Christ calls on you he calls on you to DIE as Jesus stands there screaming and bleeding on the cross, demanding that you do the same. This little picture is just sort of supposed to portray that horrible feeling of isolation that those who suffer from religious delusions suffer from. It can be especially afflicting in the winter.
